Generation 02 (1967 - )

RiadArchitecture Generation 02 Overview
 

 

  • Mohamed Riad, with his brother Ahmed Riad, joined the practice and established RiadGeneration 02 in 1965-1967. The second generation Riad brothers pushed the practice to engage in more real estate endeavours in partnership with Heidico Construction Industries and others.

  • He graduated from Cairo University in 1967, and was stationed at the Development & Popular Housing Office (DPHO)  in Cairo until 1981.

  • During his post at the DPHO, he collaborated on many national and international projects like Helwan University Masterplan (with SOM),  Institute for the Blind in Benghazi, Post Office Headquarters in Tarablus ...etc.

  • He has interned at Vatten Byggnadsbyran (VBB) in 1965, at their main office in Stockholm, Sweden.

  • He was chosen to represent Egypt in the Housing Development group training sessions in Japan, organised by Japan International Cooperation Agency under the International Cooperation Programme of the Government of Japan, in 1979.

  • Under his leadership, the practice focused on designing a variety of Office and Residential towers, mixed use complexes and masterplans, as well as touristic resort towns. RiadArchitecture generation 02 was also the consultant architects for many Egyptian banking establishments, like the Central Bank of Cairo, Arab International Bank, Workers Union Bank, and the Egyptian Banking Institute.
