The design brief called for the renovation and extension of an existing residential community outside of Copenhagen, Denmark. We felt that the existing facades of the community were very bland and looked to introduce elements of color gradients and ever changing rhythmic facades (which is embodied through the colored shutters). We also took the opportunity to introduce many sustainable e within the community: Solar panels on the roof, double skin glazing, shutters located in the interior of the sun facing facades to maximize heat gain in the cold climate of Copenhagen, and green roofs.
