The project brief called for the creation of a touristic hub compromising of a small cultural center and homestay, while adhering to the architectural style of the surrounding context of the city of Kaifeng (especially the architecture and urban configuration of Shaunglong Lane, which was made up of a series of Chinese quadrangles). The project brief included a small performance center, small museum, crafts workshops, bookstore, and restaurant / bar areas - while needed to preserve a 4 story building at the northern edge of the site.
